How to Backside
By Glider
A backside grind is almost the same as a frontside while backsiding is also almost as easy. Like all grinds,
the stall should be learned first, and then the grind. In this grind, skate
towards the utensil at normal speed and at a slight angle. Jump into the air
and twist your lower body to face away from the object. With your legs spread
about shoulder width apart, watch your skates lock in between the middle
wheels. To keep balanced on top of the object, stand up straight and extend
your arms. Also be careful to face your upper body away from the rail while
keeping your head pointed down the rail. This makes the grind easier and look
better than one in which your upper body is pointed down the rail. Grind as
far as you can keeping your balance than jump off for another trick.
First,
you have to find a place to stall. Almost anything work such as a curb, ledge, rail, etc. Skate
up to the thing that you are going to stall at a normal speed, not too fast because you don't want to
grind just yet! Skate up to it and jump on, locking your skates in
the right position. You can stall in a soul, royale, backside/frontside,
or just about anything else! Just remember to lock the skates into the
right places. After practicing stalling, you can try jumping off the thing that you are grinding just regularly or put in with another trick such as
coming off backwards or fakie, doing 360's and 180's or whatever you can think of.
Hey, after all the possibilities are endless! After you can stall the grind, go out and start to grind it by getting more speed.
